TAG Heuer has unveiled a limited edition watch that evokes the spirit of Porsche’s 963 endurance racing car.
The hybrid petrol/electric car has a top speed of well over 200mph and was designed to take part in races like the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The prototype car was unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2022 and had its race debut the following year at the 24 Hours of Daytona.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 is the latest tie-in between Porsche and TAG, and the watch has a number of elements that pay tribute to the car.
The colours are the white, red, white and black associated with Porsche Motorsport.
The watch has a skeleton dial with tubular shapes that ape the Porsche’s lightweight racing chassis.
The bezel is made from forged carbon, a material used to save weight on the racing car.
The bezel, strap and steel case feature logos from the car, and if you flip the watch over there is a steering-wheel-styled winding rotor.
The heavily lumed dial provides excellent legibility in low light, appropriate for a watch that could be worn during all-night endurance races.
The in-house TH20-00 automatic movement has a red column wheel, and the vertical clutch mirrors the car’s flywheel vertical transmission coupling.
The watch is water-resistant to 100m and the rubber strap has a shape inspired by the low-drag air inlets featured on Porsche racing cars all the way back to the Porsche 917.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 is limited to 963 pieces worldwide priced at £8,050.
