Rolex and Roger Federer team up for swansong documentary about the legend’s final days in tennis

Swiss tennis legend and peerless ambassador for Rolex has opened up about how he ended his professional career.

Rolex has thrown its promotional power behind the launch of a documentary about Swiss tennis legend’s final days as a professional.

The Amazon Prime film, titled Roger Federer: Twelve Final Days is a 90-minute documentary featuring intimate footage of Federer at the end of his incredible career.

Federer retired in 2022 after winning 20 Grand Slam singles titles and six years as the world number one.

He has been, and remains, a Rolex testimonee for over two decades.

Unusually, Rolex is sharing a trailer to a documentary chronicling the final days of his tennis on its own Youtube channel, which has almost two million subscribers.

The film documents the time between the retirement announcement and Federer’s final match in September 2022.

In the film, which launched on Amazon Prime on June 20, Mr Federer says: “I am 41 years old, I have played more than 1500 matches over 24 years.

“Tennis has treated me more generously than I ever would have dreamt, but I must recognise when it’s time to end my competitive career.”

His collection of Rolex watches has played a supporting role in many victory photos, and the long-term relationship with the brand is among the most enduring and lucrative contracts in sporting history.

Towards the end of the film, the Federer says that thoughts of retirement had been accompanied by a troubling question: “What happens next?”
