Roger Dubuis revs up with special edition Lamborghini-inspired design

Special edition Spider Flyback Chronograph honours hypercar entry in Le Mans 24hrs

Roger Dubuis has released a special edition of its Excalibur Flyback Chronograph in celebration of a motorsport milestone for Lamborghini.

Lamborghini began life in the 1960s as a sports car manufacturer with no designs on the racetrack.

Over the years that has changed and Lamborghini has had notable success in the GT3 sportscar series with the Huracán.

The car maker has also competed at Le Mans before, but this year was the first time in the hypercar class at the flagship endurance event.

The car managed 10th place, a good result for the debut of the 200mph+ Lamborghini SC63 LMDh, with its 3.8-litre turbocharged engine and hybrid power system.

The watch is a fifth-generation Excalibur, the Spider Revuelto Flyback Chronograph, with 45mm carbon case and ceramic bezel.

This limited edition with the long-term automotive partner features detailing in the characteristic Lamborghini green, known as Verde Mantis.

There are also angular lines that evoke the car’s aerodynamic shape and the winding rotor resembles the lightweight wheels on the Le Mans Car.

There is no dial on the front, and the caseback is open to allow admiration of the polished surface of the Geneva Seal certified automatic movement from both sides.

Roger Dubuis was started in the 1990s by the late former Patek Philippe chronograph specialist of the same name.

The modern DNA of the brand was forged in 2005 with the launch of the first pared-back Excalibur.

The in-house RD 780 is a column-wheel chronograph movement with a power reserve of 72 hours.

The watch is water-resistant to 100m.
